UCF Signs Shoe Contract with Nike

In detail, UCF & Nike agreed on a five-year contract in which Nike will provide shoes & apparel for all sports at the university. “We had explored a quantity of different options with a quantity of different manufacturers & equipment providers & ultimately they have reached an agreement with Nike,” said David Chambers, UCF executive associate athletic director.
Obviously, Marcus Jordan, the son of Michael Jordan, found himself at the center of brand battle between Jordan Brand & Adidas last year (see our Top 9 Sneaker Stories of ‘09). Although the University of Central Florida was an Adidas-sponsored school, Marcus Jordan ultimately wore stayed loyal to his dad’s brand & wore Air Jordans on the court. Adidas terminated its contract with UCF; however they have learned that UCF has signed a contract with Nike. It is funny how things turn out some times, right?
UCF’s deal with adidas ends June 30, & the newly-developed Nike agreement officially begins July 1. Click here to share your thoughts on this new agreement.
